Little Wandle Letters and Sounds

Here at Trinity Primary School we follow the ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds’ phonics scheme. It is a phonics program that provides a structured and engaging approach to teaching children to read and write. Children learn to decode words by understanding the relationship between sounds and letters. It begins in Nursery with Rhyme Time and follows on in Reception with the structured learning of letters and sounds. Our Key Stage 1 Guided Reading and Support groups also follow the scheme.

Little Wandle has a prescript way of teaching the reading and writing of letters and sounds and we encourage Parents to follow it too when supporting their child at home. Fidelity to the scheme is important as it avoids confusion for children. There is a Parents section on the Little Wandle website that explains how to support your child say and write the sounds they will be learning in school. Please click on the link below.
