Admissions
Enrolment Procedure
Parents are invited to register their child for Nursery and School as early as possible. We believe it is important to develop partnerships between parents and school, so if you would like to, please make an appointment to meet the Head teacher and have a tour of the school during the year before your child is due to start.
Nursery
For a place in a Government of Jersey nursery, you may apply to any government school you wish. You will be asked by the school to complete a standard registration of interest form which is available from the Trinity School office, or you can download by accessing the Government website below.
Guidelines
You should complete only ONE form for your child even if you want to apply for more than one Nursery.
The allocation of places is made centrally by the Department of Children, Young People Education and Skills and is based on the information you provide on your application. Your details are held at school and passed on to the Department at the beginning of the calendar year of that September intake – not all primary schools have nurseries and places are not guaranteed.
If you have been successful in your application you will then be offered 30 hours of Government funded Nursery education. This means your child will stay for the full Nursery day during term time.
School
School applications should be made to the school in your catchment area – if you are not sure if you are in the Trinity catchment please contact us or visit the Government of Jersey website www.gov.je/Education/Schools for further information.
Registration needs to take place before 1st December in the year before your child is due to start in Reception class; application forms will be available from us or by accessing the gov.je website. We will contact parents who have registered their interest in November in the year before your child is due to start in Reception, by sending out an Application form to you. You can change your choice of Primary school at this stage by indicating your preferred choice on this application form. You must return the application form to your catchment school, even if this is not your first choice school, this is to ensure your child is registered for Reception the following September with the Government of Jersey.
You will receive an offer of a Reception place for your child in the proceeding Spring term before they are due to start in the September. The allocations for all non-fee-paying primary schools are undertaken by the Department of Children, Young People, Education and Skills where they will follow set criteria. Priority is given in the order detailed below, to pupils who:
- have a Special Educational Need and must access a specific school or are a Looked After Child.
- have a brother or sister in the school (Reception - Year 5)
- are living in the primary school catchment area
- are living in the secondary school catchment area
- have a brother or sister in Year 6 at the school (who will have left when the younger sibling starts)
- have other requests supported by a good educational reason for attending a non-catchment school
Please note that Trinity School do not have any involvement in the allocation of Reception places, all places are allocated by the Department of Children, Young People, Education and Skills and any queries should be directed to School Admissions.
